Recently I’ve been playing with a few different combinations for a French tips design (you won’t be seeing some of those experiments any time soon). After trying way too many bright colors, I gave into my dark side and used these colors–and I really like how it turned out!
Instead of painting the French tip free-handed as I usually do, I tried out the taping method. Provided you do the entire process correctly, this method is simple, clean, and easy. Note that it is very important step to wait until the bottom color is completely dry before proceeding…
To complete the look, I added a matte top coat and the beads to cover crooked lines create an accent nail.
I’ve always been a blue sort of person. Until now. The autumn colors have recently been invading my life for the first time. Especially orange.
Perhaps you may think I am being overly dramatic. Well I am.
However, this subtle and mysterious increase of brighter colors popping up everywhere in my wardrobe and nails makes me suspicious of what is to come…
I’m not so much of an autumn grouch–this mani actually makes me feel a bit cheery! The balance between the orange and the mint green work well without any one color overpowering the other. It’s a nice transition from summer to autumn, don’t you think?
This post is in memory of my bottle of Revlon’s Elegant, a casualty of flying in the unprotected environment of my suitcase.
I can only recall this mani with experiencing frustration to the fifth degree because the polishes were drying up a lot faster than I could marble. Speed was the name of the game and fortunately resulted with this sweet combination. It kinda reminds me of peppermint and chocolate! What do you think?
My adventures abroad in Japan have been fueling my imagination. There was so much to see, explore, and eat! I can’t wait to combine my memories and polishes together to see what kind of crazy cultural mix comes out!
Let’s talk about that magic carpet ride. And how it was more inspiring than Jasmine herself. While I did say it was to be a Disney Princess inspired mani I think this fits under the umbrella since Jasmine was sitting on the magic carpet.
Arguments aside, I wanted to the design to reflect what a bystander (or bird) would see of this magical ride. I started off with just the watermarble, but wasn’t satisfied so I added in some clouds and dots to give an impression of the flight.
Let me start off by saying that the Valentine’s Day mani from this past year had nothing to with me being sad and everything to do with blue being the superior color. While the world celebrated all the pinks, reds, and whites, I simply had to create a blue Valentine’s themed mani (nevermind the fact that I didn’t own pink or red polishes at the time…).
I thought I should show you all one of my first forays into the world of nail art, and that yes, things do get better in time.
It took me a while to watch Tangled because let’s face it: I don’t watch movies. Maybe occasionally. But I’m really glad I did because I could once again indulge in the childish wish of if I had magical hair.
I had intended to watermarble a different princess when my muse took hold and tossed Rapunzel at me. I don’t try to fight my muse, but I have to say that this is hands-down the girliest mani I’ve ever worn.
Summer and Disney have always gone hand-and-hand since I was a kid, and since coming home I’ve been on a Disney singing-spree. Amidst my singing and fooling around with polish, I thought it would be a fun challenge to create Disney Princess Inspired manis from watermarbling!
The first princess I was inspired by was Ariel, who is actually not my favorite princess. At all. I think the only common trait I share with Ariel is that we both like to collect junk. But of course, it’s sentimental junk.
Sometimes great results are the products of accidents. This mani came about as a complete surprise. While surfing Youtube videos I began poking at the drying polish with my nails. When I eventually looked down to see what sort of destruction I had wrought on my nails, what I found intrigued me.
Today’s combination of clear skies and 60 degree weather practically begs for a spring-themed watermarble! Due to my growing obsession of this kind of nail art, Charlotte has kindly let me take over Wednesdays to share with you all the magic and fascination of watermarbling!
(please excuse and ignore the chipping and lack of clean up)
There is something incredibly calming about watermarbling. Perhaps it is the process of watching all the colors swirl together to create beauty or it is the knowledge that you at least have some control over something in our chaotic daily lives.
